The Westboro Baptist Church has published its intent to protest at Fort Zumwalt West High School on Friday, August 25.
According to a press release posted on the organization’s website, the reason for the half-hour protest is “Fort Zumwalt West High School and its district boasts of a free, healthy breakfast provided at the beginning of each day to encourage mental alertness and thereby maximize learning.”
The release goes on to say that
“The instruction at Fort Zumwalt school district is relatively useless to their welfare, as the NEA has been the biggest tool in brainwashing children to embrace their sin and see Bible truth through a bigoted, sodomite lens. These kids are starving for truth!
“If their parents cannot be relied upon to literally feed their kids before school, what expectation is there that they have spiritually fed them with Bible reading, prayer and practical instruction? God tells parents to continually teach their children truth and raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, as though it is their profession . . .”
The protest is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the school’s campus at 1251 Turtle Creek Drive.
A counter-protest has been planned in the form of a food drive. The Food for Hope food drive will accept food and other donations from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Corner Spirits, at the intersection of Bryan Road and Mexico Road in O’Fallon.
According to the schedule on the WBC website, members also plan to picket a few hours later at Pride Night at Busch Stadium.
