Wentzville’s Hill of Thrills Soapbox Race Set for Sunday, September 11

Soapbox Derby Car

The Hill of Thrills, Wentzville’s 10th Annual Soapbox Race, which features “soapbox” cars donated by local businesses and organizations, will take place at noon on Sunday, September 11.

The races take place on Meyer Road in front of Progress Park. The cars aren’t fueled by gas or electronics―just simple gravity as the racers compete against the clock.

Racers must be between 4 and 5 feet tall, weigh between 55 and 120 pounds, and fit comfortably in the car (height and weight restrictions are due to the construction of the car). Racers are randomly placed in the cars.

A maximum of 200 racers are accepted, so register early! The child must be present at the time of registration, no mail-in registrations accepted. The cost is $5 for residents and $8 for nonresidents, by or before August 21. After August 21, the cost will be $10 for residents and $13 for nonresidents. The rain date for the event is September 18.

To register, please visit Progress Park Recreation Center, which is located at 968 Meyer Rd. Race-day registrations will be accepted. Please note: Due to facility closures registrations will not be accepted September 6-10.
