An ALDI grocery store could be coming to Wentzville soon, pending approval from the Planning & Zoning Commission and Board of Aldermen.
The store, which would be nearly 19,000 square feet in size, is slated for construction on 2.7 acres at 150 Crossroads South Drive. The location would include 98 parking spaces. Neighboring businesses on the south side of the street would be Olive Garden to the west and the Fairfield Inn & Suites to the east.
The new ALDI would be accessed from Crossroads South with additional access through the Fairfield Inn property. City staff has requested changes to plans for landscaping and a dumpster gate.
ALDI, which calls itself “the nation’s leading low-price grocer,” carries ALDI exclusive brands and a limited selection of national brands. The stores have a shopping cart rental system and do not provide throw-away grocery bags. Those cost savings are passed on to the customers through low product pricing.
