Wentzville School District Students to View Eclipse with Student-Designed Eyewear

WSD Solar Eclipse Glasses

Students in the Wentzville School District will be viewing Monday’s historical total solar eclipse with custom-made viewing glasses featuring artwork by district students.

Last spring, students submitted artwork to be used on the glasses. Designs created by the following students were chosen for the honor:

  • Kenzie Jenkins (in 2nd grade last year at Crossroads Elementary, Mrs. Nevitt’s class)
  • Mary Wright (in 7th grade last year, South Middle)
  • Emma Giltner (in 9th grade last year, Timberland)
  • Aidan Myers (in 4th grade last year at Heritage, Ms. Flieg’s class)

The glasses were made in the USA and verified by the American Astronomical Society. The district will be providing glasses to all students and staff. A limited number is available for parent volunteers, but the district recommends that parents consider purchasing and bringing their own protective eyewear just to make sure.
