Wentzville Police: Hit-and-run fatality was ‘a tragic accident’

On Monday, November 11, 2019, officers from the Wentzville Police Department responded to the 2500 block of Pitman Road for a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, lifesaving efforts were attempted on the pedestrian, Nadia Nascimento, who was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased.

A thorough investigation was conducted by members of the Wentzville Police Department. After reviewing video footage from surrounding businesses and interviewing witness it was discovered a snow plow belonging to the St. Charles County Highway Department was in the area at the time Ms. Nascimento had been struck. Members of the Wentzville Police Department, with full cooperation of St. Charles County Officials, examined the snow plow and found evidence that indicated it was the striking vehicle. The investigation revealed the driver was unaware he had struck Ms. Nascimento. After reviewing all the facts and circumstances in this case it appears to have been a tragic accident.

This case was forwarded to the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for review. Per the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, no criminal charges will be filed at this time.
