Wentzville man killed in motorcycle crash near Lake of the Ozarks

Fatal crash

A Wentzville man was killed Friday when he was ejected from his motorcycle in a crash in Morgan County, MO.

Michael L. Benton, 51, was driving a 2015 Harley Davidson northbound on Highway 5 in Gravois Mills near Lake of the Ozarks at noon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A Hyundai Elantra driven by 31-year-old Andrew J. Jackson of Gravois Mills was southbound and crossed the center line, striking a 1991 Mazda driven by 54-year-old William R. Vogt of Barnett, Missouri. The Hyundai then hit Benton’s motorcycle, ejecting Benton.

The motorcycle then struck a fourth vehicle, a Ford Escort driven by a 29-year-old from Stover, Missouri.

Benton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jackson sustained serious injuries. A 13-year-old  passenger in the car sustained moderate injuries. The driver of the Escort was not injured.
