Daniel B. Hallmark, 54, of Wentzville was charged Tuesday by the St. Charles Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in a case involving predation and sex with a minor from November 2014 to early 2015.
Hallmark was charged with two counts of second-degree statutory sodomy and one count of attempted enticement of a child.
According to the probable cause statement, Hallmark approached the victim, then 13, and his mother at the Wentzville Walmart. Hallmark then befriended the child, giving him small jobs, taking him shopping, and helping with homework.
The victim began spending the night at Hallmark’s home on Grand Oaks Court, where Hallmark provided him with alcohol. When the boy was intoxicated, Hallmark performed a sex act on him and made the victim perform a sex act on him.
Police say they found possibly hundreds of photos, videos, addresses, and text messages from young males around the ages of 13-18 on Hallmark’s computer, cell phone, and GPS. Hallmark may have been in the “grooming” or predatory stage with at least three other boys.
Investigation will continue to local any additional victims. Anyone with information should call the Wentzville Police Department at (636) 327-5105.
Hallmark owned and operated a business, Hallmark Plumbing and Drain.
Bond was set at $50,000, cash only, 10 percent not authorized. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 7.
