After the last day of candidate filing in the 2017 municipal election–and a last minute filing–Wentzville has the largest slate of candidates for municipal elections since 2011.
For Ward 1 alderman, incumbent Cheryl Kross filed her candidacy in the last few hours before filing closed on Tuesday. Competing for the Ward 1 seat will also be Bryan Harr and William “Toe” Loretto II.
Ward 2 incumbent alderman Sonya Shryock has a large field of competitors: Jeff Ottenlips, Brittany Gillett, Justin Hendee, and Justin Young.
Ward 3 incumbent alderman Matt Swanson will be challenged by Stephanie Price.
For municipal judge, Michael “Mike” E. Carter will be challenged by Laura E. Sprehe.
Wentzville hasn’t seen this many candidates for municipal office since 2011, when six candidates were competing for municipal judge and four for Ward 2 alderman.
