Attention stargazers and thrill seekers! Bring the family out to Broemmelsiek Park’s Astronomy Viewing Areaon Friday night, August 9, to witness the biggest ‘cosmic fireworks’ show of the year – the Perseid Meteor Shower! A shooting star watch party begins at 9 p.m. in the park, located at 1615 Schwede Road in Wentzville.
If the weather cooperates, during this free event, members of theAstronomical Society of Eastern Missouri (ASEM) will show guests spectacular views of shooting stars and other celestial objects through large telescopes and other high-tech scopes at the park. Guests are welcome to bring their own telescopes and take photos as the night sky comes alive.
With its remote setting and limited light pollution, the Astronomy Viewing Area offers a wonderful opportunity to view the night sky. Open around-the-clock, this unique amenity has 10 concrete viewing stations equipped with electrical service to accommodate the latest telescopes and are available on a first come, first serve basis. The site is the first of its kind in St. Charles County and is the primary location for fun Public Friday Night Stargazing programs hosted by ASEM members.
