This sort of things happens a lot in St. Louis. A trucker will notice that they are missing an exit. I don’t know if it’s because they’re on their phone or just “highway hypnotized” or whatever else. But instead of just allowing themselves to miss and then reroute (adding a total of 5-10 minutes to their trip), they recklessly will merge multiple lanes without warning. I have had one almost hit me or cause me to hit them twice.

This is a similar case. And this man took his life and the lives of others recklessly in his hands. He took the life of a lovely young woman – a mother, a wife, a daughter, a nurse, a Christian, a friend, a good human. She had insufficient time to respond. He swerved in front of her and stopped – killing her instantly. Ripping her away from her family. This man should be charged not only with felony careless and imprudent driving – but he should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. He should live the rest of his life knowing that his carelessness and inappropriate traffic maneuver killed this woman. He didn’t just kill a woman but he ripped a piece of many peoples’ hearts.

In just 2 hours and forty minutes, it’ll have been a day. The healing process is going to be immense. All of this pain and suffering felt by so many is because of his carelessness. Because of it, a one-year-old boy will never have a living memory of his mom. A five-year-old girl lost her mother and role model. A man lost his loving wife. A family lost a cherished loved one. Lauren was a talented and gifted nurse and the lives she would have saved are also in this man’s hands too.
