Mission: Clean Stream volunteers will be working all over St. Charles County on Saturday, April 11.

St. Charles County will celebrate Earth Day with Mission Clean Stream and a festival at Wentzville’s Rotary Park on Saturday, April 11.

The festival at Rotary Park kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a send-off for Mission Clean Stream workers. Families of the workers are encouraged to stay at the festival to explore work by local artisans and to get connected to, and preserve nature with hands-on activities like making upcycled crafts. The festival will feature vendors and organizations that can help you and your family make a real difference in the world.

The festival’s Green Heroes program lets kids earn a very special award by learning about the environment at the festival. The Living History Company’s gypsy book traders will be on hand to barter with children for gently used books.

The Stream Trash ART (START) project, created by Ralph Rollins, offers the chance to watch artists use recycled materials and salvaged metal pulled from the streams to create new works of eco-art.

Mission: Clean Stream volunteers from St. Charles County and the communities of Cottleville, Dardenne Prairie, Lake Saint Louis, O’Fallon, St. Charles and Wentzville will join with Greenway Network and Missouri River Relief to remove trash from local streams and lakes.

Mission: Clean Stream started as a joint effort to pick up litter from publicly accessible creek areas. Today, Mission: Clean Stream has evolved into a challenge for thousands to do make a serious effort in reducing the amount of trash in waterways across the county in just two hours. Families, organizations and individuals can participate by calling the nearest community to register. Hurry, registration fills fast!
