Two From Wentzville, Two From O’Fallon Injured in Wrong-Way Driver Crash on I-55

Four people from St. Charles County were injured in a wrong-way drunk driver incident in Jefferson County early Saturday.

A 2011 Honda Accord driven by Jaime N. Derousse, 38, of Festus, traveled the wrong direction up the ramp from Highway M onto Interstate 55 about 4:20 a.m.

Derousse’s Honda first struck the driver’s side of a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Jacob Auble, 19, of St. Louis. Auble was not injured.

Derousse then struck a 2013 Ford Edge head-on. The driver of the Ford, Trenton Knifong, 26, of O’Fallon, along with passengers Amy L. Knifong, 25, of O’Fallon, and Eric Kase, 27, and Megan Spinks, 24, of Wentzville, all sustained moderate injuries in the crash. All four were transported by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center.

Derousse was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Mercy Jefferson Hospital. She was later arrested for driving while intoxicated and four charges of second-degree assault.
