Suspect in O’Fallon Kidnapping Was Known to Family, Police Say

A kidnapping vicitim in O’Fallon was found and reunited with family within an hour of the call.

The O’Fallon Police Department issued a press release to confirm that the suspect in the kidnapping was known to the family.

The police received the call about a kidnapping in the 100 block of McCluer Drive at 5:23 Thursday morning.

“During a neighborhood search and canvass, at approximately 6:10 a.m., both the suspect and the 10-year-old female victim were located in a vehicle in the vicinity,” said Public Information Officer Diane Damke. The suspect was taken into custody and the child returned to her parents.

The family knew the suspected kidnapper, Damke said. Evidence found at the home on McCluer indicated that a burglary was also committed.

No charges have been issued yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
