St. Charles County Food Inspection Scores: Tacos, Mexican Food and Groceries

The St. Charles County Department of Public Health monitors more than 1,300 food service providers in St. Charles County. (The City of St. Peters conducts its own inspections.) Routine inspections are conducted by specialists with the department for proper food safety procedures and are scored by deducting points from a starting score of 100.

“Public concern about food safety, harmful products and dangerous germs has increased with food-borne threat incidents occurring throughout the United States, and through these permits and inspections the health department communicates the importance of proper procedure to food establishment owners, managers and staff,” said Doug Bolnik, department spokesman.

The following scores were posted during the period July 1, 2016 to November 30, 2016.


Lake Saint Louis

  • El Maguey, 6125 Ronald Reagan Drive – score 100
  • El Maguey, 1413 Lake Saint Louis Boulevard – score 90


St. Charles

Weldon Spring


  • La Chata, 3891 Mid Rivers Mall Drive – score 74

Dardenne Prairie

St. Peters
(The City of St. Peters conducts its own inspections through the City of St. Peters Health Department. The following scores are from October and November, 2016)

  • El Mezon Authentic Mexican Restaurant, 140 Salt Lick Road – score 100
  • La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, 4203 South Old Highway 94 – score 88 (Oct. 26), score 98 (Nov. 7)
  • Los Chavez Mexican Grille, 4245 Veterans Memorial Parkway – score 90 (Oct. 20), score 100 (Oct. 25)
  • Los Cabos, 1287 Jungerman Road – score 98
