The St. Charles County Department of Public Health monitors more than 1,300 food service providers in St. Charles County. (The City of St. Peters conducts its own inspections.) Routine inspections are conducted by specialists with the department for proper food safety procedures and are scored by deducting points from a starting score of 100.

The following acronyms are used in violation information: PHF (Potentially Hazardous Food), TCS (Time/Temperature Control for Safety), FCS (Food-contact Surface), NFC (Non-food contact surface), RTE (Read to Eat).

  • El Maguey Mexican Restaurant, 1413 Lake Saint Louis Boulevard – score 96 (“Torn or broken door seals, hinges etc. (poorly maintained or in disrepair) 2(pnt). Replace damaged gasket at ice machine bin. Dirty NFCs 2(pnt) – soda dispenser at bar in need of cleaning to prevent build up.”)

  • O’Charley’s, 2204 Highway K – score 96 (“Equipment, linens, single service not stored properly 2(pnt) – Observed the dishwasher trays were sitting on the floor near the dishwasher area; all dishwasher trays must be stored at least 6 inches above the floor; during the inspection, the trays were moved onto a shelf that is at least 6 inches off of the floor; Dirty NFCs 2(pnt) – Observed the tray that was holding the ice scoop (for the large ice machine) was dirty with a white residue; the tray holding the ice scoop must always be clean; during the inspection, the tray was removed, put through the dishwasher for cleaning, and a new tray was used to hold the ice scoop”)

  • Turtle Creek Pub & Grill, 128 Triad Center West – score 93 (“Ready to eat PHFs not dated 5(pnt) – Observed multiple containers of ready to eat food in the walk-in cooler, as well as in one of the reach-in coolers, were not labeled with the day of preparation or 7 days following the preparation date; during the inspection, food that was prepared today was dated and the other food not dated was discarded; Observed the floors throughout the kitchen area, including those under the equipment, contain a black-like residue and food debris; the floors should be swept and mopped daily to eliminate the residue and debris; also, the equipment that is capable of moving away for the wall, should be moved away and cleaned under at least once a week”)
