Entries are now being accepted for O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest Parade. The deadline for applications is May 13.
The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. on July 4, rain or shine. The parade route starts at Main and Third, and follows Main Street north to Tom Ginnever Avenue. Then the route turns east and continues to the festival grounds off T.R. Hughes Boulevard.
The parade application is available on the festival website. It can be mailed to the address on the application, or hand delivered to the Parks office at 400 Civic Park Drive. Fees are charged for political and commercial entries.
Registrations will be limited to 99 entries. “99 entries equates to a two-hour parade,” said Marsha Seymour, O’Fallon’s festivals director.
Entries will be judged in the categories of Most Patriotic Float, Best Color Guard, and Best Musical Float. Awards are given for the Best Overall Entry and the Mayor’s Choice. The Best Overall Entries are awarded cash prizes of $500, $400, and $300.
Complete rules for parade entries are on the application. A mandatory meeting for parade entries will be help on Tuesday, June 21 at city hall.
