O’Fallon’s kid-friendly Public Works Fair will be held on Wednesday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ozzie Smith Sports Complex, 900 T.R. Hughes Boulevard in O’Fallon.
Celebrating National Public Works Week May 21-27, the fair will offer free, kid-friendly activities and put residents in touch with services provided by the City’s Public Works Department, such as clean drinking water, well-maintained streets and trash, recycling and yard waste collection.
The event features safety awareness games and activities for kids, educational materials for adults, free rides on the O’Fallon City Train for all ages and a free hot dog lunch with chips and water.
For kids, one of the best things about O’Fallon’s Public Works Day Kids is the chance to sit in the driver’s seat of some of the big equipment on display. This year’s equipment to be exhibited includes a dump truck, a trash collection truck, a skid loader and a backhoe. The Water and Sewer Division will display a working model of the wastewater treatment plant, and other divisions will have hands-on demonstrations for visitors to try.
The Public Works Fair is weather-dependent and will be canceled if it rains. In the event of threatening weather, call Kelly at 636-379-3807 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for the status of the Public Works Fair.
