Plant Sale to Benefit Senior Center Transportation

The Transportation Board of the Green Lantern Senior Center is holding a plant sale on Thursday, April 27.

Featured at the sale will be many varieties of baskets and planters as well as individual plants such as geraniums, impatiens, portulaca and begonias. All plants are locally grown and are priced according to size.

The sale will be from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Green Lantern, 506 South Linn Avenue in Wentzville.

Proceeds will help defray the cost of the Senior Center’s bus service. The bus picks up seniors and takes them to the Green Lantern for a hot, nutritious lunch five days a week. Riders are asked to pay a $2 fee each way. “No one is turned away if they can’t afford the fee,” said staffer Joyce Zollmann. Unfortunately, the fees don’t begin to meet the costs for a bus driver, gas, and vehicle maintenance, so the program must rely on fundraisers.

Donations to the transportation program are also accepted.
