O’Fallon woman dies from injuries after secondary crash on I-70

Kendall A. Douglas, 20, of O’Fallon has died from injuries sustained in a crash after she slowed and stopped for a previous accident and was rear-ended by another vehicle Sunday night in St. Peters.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Douglas was driving a 2006 Kia Optima eastbound on Interstate 70 east of Highway 370 when an accident took place just ahead of her.

Douglas slowed and stopped because one of the vehicles from the previous accident, a 2011 Kia Optima, was stopped in her lane. Douglas’ Optima was struck from behind by a 2008 Jeep Wrangler driven by 19-year-old Taylor T. Segelle of St. Peters. Douglas’ car was then pushed into the disabled Optima.

Douglas was transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles by ambulance. She was pronounced dead at 3:48 Monday morning.
