O’Fallon, Wentzville Restaurants Honored with 2016 Food Safety Excellence Awards

Restaurants in O’Fallon and Wentzville were among the five St. Charles County establishments honored with 24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Awards for 2016 by the Division of Environmental Health and Protection. The 24 Carrot Gold Food Safety Excellence Awards, which began in 2007, recognize the importance of food safety, sanitation, and employee education.

The 24 Carrot Gold Award winners for 2016 are:

To be eligible for 24 Carrot Gold Award consideration, a facility must possess a valid St. Charles County Food Establishment permit and be in good standing with the Department of Public Health, which regularly inspects permanent, mobile and temporary food service establishments within St. Charles County (With the exception of establishments in St. Peters, which are subject to inspections by the City of St. Peters.)

Winners cannot have critical inspection violations within the previous year and have more than six non-critical violations over the same period. In addition, a food safety certification class must be completed by at least 90 percent of the facility’s food managers.
