An O’Fallon teen sustained serious injuries after the car he was driving was hit by a truck in Pike County early Friday morning.
The 16-year-old male was driving a 2010 Ford Focus northbound on Highway 79 south of Clarksville just before 7 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Ford slowed to make a left turn and a 2013 International truck driven by 49-year-old Brian W. Ashley of University City struck the back of the Ford. The car left the roadway and struck a concrete pole.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. A 16-year-old male passenger in the car was treated on the scene for minor injuries, and a 16-year-old female was not injured. It is not known if the two male victims were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the International was not injured.
