The O’FallonTheatreWorks production of the comedy, Noises Off – reputed to be one the funniest farces ever written – is scheduled to be performed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 4-6 and 11–13, on the stage at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall), 100 North Main Street, O’Fallon, Missouri 63366.
Friday and Saturday shows start at 8 p.m., Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play, Noises Off is a hilarious play within a play. Taking its title from a theatrical term for sounds coming from off-stage, Noises Off opens on a dress rehearsal for Nothing’s On with a lot of door slamming, baffled performers who miss entrances, exits and their lines, and props with a mind of their own.
During the second act, the audience sees Nothing’s On from backstage, where pandemonium reigns as the actors’ relationships deteriorate. By act three, Nothing’s On is at the end of its run and the actors are undermining their fellow actors’ performances to the point that the plot falls apart, anything goes, and the actors must ad lib their way to a riotous conclusion. The comedy includes adult humor and situations.
A $2 discount will be given on Noises Off tickets purchased in advance at the Renaud Spirit Center, or reserved by calling 636-474-2732. Discounted tickets are $10 for general admission, and $8 for students (ages 6 – 17) and seniors (ages 55+). Tickets will cost an additional $2 each if purchased at the box office, which opens an hour before each show. Concessions will be available for purchase.
