According to police, the resident who called police and reported a burglary in progress was Pamela Hupp, age 57.

Deceased at the scene was Louis Gumpenberger, 33, of St. Charles.

Hupp was a key figure in the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, just hours after Hupp signed a beneficiary form for Faria’s $150,000 life insurance policy. Hupp created a trust for Faria’s daughters, but revoked the trust in 2013 after Betsy Faria’s husband, Russ Faria, was convicted of the murder. Russ Faria was later retried and acquitted.

Fox2News posted a story in January 2016 after Betsy Faria’s daughters brought a fraud claim against Hupp, saying they’d never received the money.
