As the country pays tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks and those who rushed in to help on September 11, 2001, the City of O’Fallon will offer several ways to honor them this Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. The original presidential proclamation designated the day as “an opportunity to salute the heroes of 9/11, recapture the spirit of unity and compassion that inspired our Nation following the attacks, and rededicate ourselves to sustained service to our communities.” You can show your support through the following events in our community.
Support Our Troops Supply Drive • August 6 – September 6. Collection bins for personal care items, batteries and individual snack packages will be located at City Hall, Renaud Center, O’Fallon Justice Center, Lindell Bank (4521 Highway K), VFW Post 5077 (8500 Veterans Memorial Parkway) and at the Ballwin Police Department (300 Park Drive, 63011). Monetary donations of $18.50 are also needed to cover mailing costs. These “Stamp of Support” donations can be dropped off at City Hall with checks made payable to “H.E.R.O.E.S. Care,” the non-profit organization responsible for shipping collected items overseas to our troops. For a list of the most requested donation items, visit www.ofallon.mo.us/supply-drive.
