O’Fallon man, seriously injured in crash, faces possible DWI charges

A 46-year-old man from O’Fallon faces possible DWI charges after a crash on Interstate 70 early Monday.

Matthew A. Fozzard was driving a 1992 Dodge Dakota eastbound on I-70 east of Bryan Road at 1:34 a.m. Monday. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Fozzard’s truck went off the right side of the road, then back onto the roadway, skidding across the three eastbound lanes and off the left side of the road.

The truck then struck a concrete barrier and overturned in the first lane.

17-year-old Austin T. Bullington of St. Peters was eastbound in that lane in a 1999 Ford F250. Bullington struck the undercarriage of Fozzard’s truck.

Fozzard, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles. According to MSHP online records, he faces possible charges of driving while intoxicated.

Bullington, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to SSM St. Joseph Hospital – Lake Saint Louis.
