Charges were issued today against an O’Fallon man who police say robbed his former employer and threatened to kill the former employer’s family members if he contacted the police.
James Darabcsek, 69, of Amberway Court in O’Fallon, was charged by the St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s office today with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
According to an O’Fallon Police Department press release, the department received a call reporting a robbery in the 1300 block of Crooked Stick Drive at 6:12 p.m. on Sunday, November 20.
Darabcsek approached his former employer as he was exiting his vehicle in his driveway, police said, and ordered him into the home at gunpoint. Once inside, he pushed the victim to the floor, pointed the firearm at him, and threatened to kill him.
Darabcsek then demanded money and said told the victim to meet him at the bank the next day or he would start killing the victim’s family. He also threatened to kill them if the victim contacted the police.
The suspect left the scene with an undetermined amount of cash.
Bond was set at $100,000, cash only, 10 percent not authorized.
