A 51-year-old man from O’Fallon struck two motorcyclists near Rolla, police say, resulting in the death of one and causing serious injury to the second.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jerry L. Huskey was westbound on Highway 71 east of Rolla just after noon Monday in a 1998 Ford Explorer. Two Harley Davidson motorcycles were stopped in the roadway as their drivers were attempting to make a left turn.

Huskey’s Explorer struck both of the motorcycles from the rear.

James A. Finazzo, 67, of Rolla, was killed in the crash. Donald R. Ware, 60, also of Rolla, sustained serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Columbia.

Huskey sustained moderate injuries. He was taken to Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. Huskey was not wearing a safety device.

A fourth vehicle, a Mazda CX-9, was struck by debris from the crash. The driver, Lisa Jo Haller, 49, of Rolla, sustained minor injuries.

MSHP records show indicate that Huskey was arrested for involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault, possession with intent to distribute methamthetamine, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident, and not having insurance. He is being held in the Phelps County Jail.
