The Fourth of July fireworks show at O’Fallon’s Heritage & Freedom Fest was cut short Monday night by a malfunction.
The O’Fallon Tourism and Festivals Department posted on the Visit O’Fallon Facebook page that a technical malfunction occurred just before the finale of the fireworks show was set to begin.
“The fireworks company made every attempt to fix the problem on the fly and even tried to manually launch the finale, but they were unable to do so,” the department reported.
The fireworks show was the final event in the three-day festival that kicked off on Saturday and featured a carnival, concerts, kids’ activities, concessions, and a parade.
“We know this was a disappointing end to the evening, but we hope everyone enjoyed their time at the Festival,” organizers said. “As we do every year, we will look at all aspects of the event, and see how we can make it even better next year.”
