A building in Wentzville that has seen several different restaurants and bars come and go over the last 30 years will see new life as a fishing electronics and supplies store as early as January.
Tri-State Trolling Motor, a complete marine electronics sales, service, and repair business will soon call Wentzville its home. The business has been located in Hazelwood since 1991.
The company’s new location at 1799 Mall Parkway was originally built as a Ponderosa restaurant in 1984 when the Belz Factory Outlet mall was constructed, said Tri-State owner Bob Douthit.
Since then it has housed a barbecue restaurant, and more recently, Palomino Nights, Kickers, and Great Location bar and grills.
Douthit said that the building is indeed in a great location. “With Lake Saint Louis right here, and highways that lead to the Lake of the Ozarks and Mark Twain Lake, it’s a perfect location for a marine electronics superstore.”
Tri-State offers fish finders and navigation tools, trolling motors, and fishing canoes, kavaks, and accessories. The family-owned and family-operated business hopes to open the Wentzville location in January after major remodeling is completed on the building.
“Customers drive hundreds of miles to have their boats rigged by the experts at Tri-State Marine Electronics,” the company website states.
