Local Authors Display Books at Annual Library Open House

Local Authors Open House

Middendorf-Kredell Library in O’Fallon hosted sixty local authors Thursday night at the St. Charles City-County Library District’s sixth annual Local Author Open House.

The authors sold and autographed books and talked to visitors about their writing. Books ranged from children’s picture books and young adult mysteries to self-help and romance novels.

James K. Lehman of O’Fallon shared anecdotes and lessons learned from 20 career transitions over the last 30 years in his book Maneuvering Your Career. The book, his first, is available at

Lyssa Lane of St. Peters called her writing “a kind of a hobby.” The romance author shares details of her writing life and her Burning Lovesick series of romance novels on her blog

The author open house was so popular, the library’s parking lot was completely full. Sara Nielsen, Manager of Adult Programs for the library district, said that the event had grown rapidly and is now so popular that local authors have to be placed on a waiting list. The district may consider moving the event to a larger venue, such as Spencer Road Library, next year.
