The St. Charles County Police Department issued a press release today confirming the death of legendary musician Chuck Berry at a residence in St. Charles County.
County police responded to a home on Buckner Road at about 12:40 p.m. today, Saturday, March 18, and found the 90-year-old Chuck Berry unresponsive. Although they immediately administered lifesaving techniques, Berry could not be revived, the press release stated.
Berry was pronounced dead at 1:26 p.m.
Chuck Berry is considered to be one of the pioneers of rock and roll music in the 1950s. In the 1980s, he operated a restaurant called the Southern Air in Wentzville near Highway 40/61.
