The Lake Saint Louis Parks Department invites the public to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Zachary’s Playground on Saturday, June 24. The celebration starts with the Superhero Dash and continues with a party at the park complete with food trucks and lots of activities for the kids.
Festivities will kick off at 8:30am with the “Superhero Dash,” which is a 5K or 1 mile run, walk or roll. Registration is required for the run. To sign up, or for information, please visit unlimitedplay.org. We ask everyone to avoid travel, if possible, on Orf Road, east of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Immediately following the race, the 10 year anniversary party will commence. From 9:30 a.m. to noon, kids can enjoy free bounce houses, balloon artists, music, games, magicians, and face painters. Food trucks will be on site for anyone wishing to purchase food or drinks.
Of course, the highlight of the celebration is Zachary’s Playground itself. The playground will be open for everyone to enjoy after a ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.
Please be aware that parking will be limited, as the parking lot itself will be closed, and street parking spots reserved for accessible parking or food trucks. Event parking will be at the National Equestrian Center, 6880 Lake Saint Louis Boulevard, and complimentary shuttle service will be provided to and from the event parking lot.
Zachary’s Playground, which opened in 2007, was the area’s first inclusive playground and the result of the city’s partnership with the nonprofit Unlimited Play and the St. Charles Developmental Disabilities Resource Board. This spring, the playground was updated with new surfacing and equipment.
