Lake Saint Louis residents to see trash collection rate decrease starting in March

Meridian Waste Solutions was awarded a three year exclusive contract to collect solid waste in the City of Lake Saint Louis beginning March 5, 2018.

The City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for solid waste collection in September of 2017 and six competitive bids were received.  Meridian Waste Solutions’ bid was determined to be the lowest and best response and was awarded the contract by the Board of Aldermen at the January 16, 2018 Board of Aldermen meeting.

Lake Saint Louis residents currently pay $18.95 for monthly service that includes weekly solid waste, recycling, and yard waste pickup.  The monthly rate will decrease to $16.75 a month.  Meridian Waste Solutions will also provide a solid waste and recycling container for each residence at no additional cost.  In addition, residents can place one bulky item (furniture, appliances, etc.) at the curb on pickup day for no charge.  The $20 charge for white goods (refrigerators, ovens, etc.) remains in effect.  Yard waste will be collected year-round and residents will no longer need to call Meridian to schedule a yard waste pickup during the months of December, January, and February.  Residents over the age of 62 are eligible for a senior citizen discount, which has decreased from $17.00 per month to $15.08 per month (beginning March 5).

Meridian Waste Solutions will be contacting Lake Saint Louis residents before March 5 to inform them of changes to the monthly rate, service improvements, and pickup schedule.
