The Wentzville Board of Aldermen approved Mayor Nick Guccione’s appointment of John Luby to fill the Ward 3 seat left vacant by the resignation/removal of Linda Wright.

Wentzville Board of Aldermen votes to remove alderman who resigned

Alderman Michael Rhoades was the only aldermen voting against. Luby’s appointment. He said that he felt the board had not had enough time to research all the people who had applied to fill the position.

Luby will serve only until a new alderman is elected by Ward 3 in April. The candidates in that race are Michael Hays and Jerrett Einsporn.

Both Luby and Hays have a history with the Ward 3 seat. Luby served in the position from 2006 until 2010, when he lost his bid for reelection. When Mayor Nick Guccione was first elected in April 2012, he wanted to appoint Michael Hays to fill the Ward 3 vacancy left by his own election as mayor. After opposition from the board, Guccione appointed Luby.

Luby resigned, however, less than two months later due to family obligations, and Guccione was able to win approval from the board for his original choice for the seat, Michael Hays.
