One of the items on Tuesday’s agenda for Wentzville Planning and Zoning Commission meeting is a conditional use permit for liquor by the drink and live music for Lava Hookah Lounge & Bar, a new renovation planned for the space currently occupied by the Olde Towne Pub at 107 South Linn Avenue.
According to city documents, the new lounge will use the existing bar, but will also provide patrons with “the option of using hookahs, a vaporizing instrument utilized in smoking flavored tobacco, within the bar and patio spaces.”
The lounge, which will be open from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., also plans to serve burgers and fries.
City staff expressed concerns about live music being performed in the patio area. Even though the the historic Village Center is being redeveloped as a pedestrian-centered entertainment venue, staff said, there is still a residential element in the area while the area is “in transition.” They suggested that P& Z might wish to consider limited hours for outdoor music.
Staff also asked for a dumpster agreement and a limit on neon and LED lighting.
