Head-On Crash Injures Teens, Shuts Down Highway Z

Two teens were injured Sunday night in a head-on crash on Highway Z south of Carlton Glen Drive in Wentzville.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a sixteen-year-old from Lake Saint Louis was driving southbound on Highway Z at 10:25 p.m. in a 2003 Acura when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.

The St. Charles County Missouri Scanner Traffic Facebook page reported that one vehicle caught on fire and burned, which resulted in the highway being closed for a time.

The teen driver sustained minor injuries. A 17-year-old passenger from Wentzville sustained moderate injuries. Both were transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis. Both teens were wearing seat belts.

28-year-old Joshua E. Ridgeway of Wentzville, who was driving the other vehicle, was not injured.

It’s frightening to be on the road with so many distracted, texting kids, especially heading out to Defiance where there are no street lights, no shoulders, and most drive 30 miles over the speed limit, and try to pass in no passing zones. The age to obtain a driver’s license should be delayed a decade to age 26.
