Free Family Fishing Day at Fort Zumwalt Park Includes Worm Races, Casting Contest

The fish will be biting at freshly-stocked Lake Whetsel in Fort Zumwalt Park from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, June 7.

Kids ages 5 – 12 with their parents or grandparents are invited to bring along their bait and tackle for a morning of catch-and-release fishing and family activities. The free event will be held at Lake Whetsel in Fort Zumwalt Park, 63366. The park entrance at 1000 Jessup Drive in O’Fallon (63366) is just off Veterans’ Memorial Parkway about one mile west of Highway K.

Activities include worm races, a casting contest and a reel race, courtesy of O’Fallon’s Parks and Recreation Department. No fishing license is required for ages 15 and under, or 65 and older. For more information, please call Recreation Specialist Tyler Landreth at 636-474-8105.
