Four O’Fallon Teens Injured After Tire Blowout on Highway 70

Four teens from O’Fallon sustained moderate injuries after a tire on their SUV blew out, causing them to crash on Highway 79 Sunday afternoon.

Lucas A. Willifred, 18, of O’Fallon was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer northbound on Highway 70 north of Salt River Road just after 3 p.m. when a tire blew out.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Explorer ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. It then overturned and came to rest on its right side.

Willifred, along with 19-year-old Cody L. Harrison, 17-year-old Austin J. Willifred, and 17-year-old Chelsea A. Franklin, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital – St. Charles.

None of the teens was wearing a seat belt.

    Glad none of these kids died – I guess some still don’t want to get their dresses wrinkled by wearing seat belts.
