A 39-year-old woman from Foristell sustained serious injuries Monday morning in a Montgomery County crash.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the four-vehicle crash occurred after traffic came to a halt because of a previous work-zone crash on westbound Interstate 70 near mile marker 176 just after 10 a.m.
A van driven by a 59-year-old man from Madison, IL rear-ended a Ford Fusion that driven by Kelly M. Simler of Foristell. The force pushed the car into a Ford Escape driven by a 63-year-old St. Louis woman and a Chevy Impala driven by a 43-year-old Arnold man.
The van and the Chevy ended up on the shoulder, Simler’s vehicle was pushed into the ditch near the north service road, and the Escape overturned and ended up at rest on its passenger side.
Simpler was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. The drivers from Madison, IL and Arnold sustained minor injuries and were transported to SSM St. Joseph Hospital-Lake Saint Louis. The St. Louis driver was not injured.
All three of the injured drivers were wearing safety belts.
