First Summer Rod Run Takes to the Streets of Wentzville Friday

Vehicles of all makes and models – antique, vintage, rusty, restored, custom, or fresh from the showroom floor – are invited to cruise the streets of Wentzville from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 2.

The history of the Rod Run goes back to the 1980s with informal cruises by participants at nostalgia weekends at the nearby Mid America Raceway. The Rod Runs were formalized in the 1990s as a fundraiser for Wentzville School District’s D.A.R.E. program.

For $10, a driver can cruise Pearce Avenue from Luetkenhaus to City Hall to the cheers of an appreciative crowd of car lovers that bring their lawn chairs and coolers and enjoy the show.

The event is sponsored by Harris Automotive & Tire, the Wentzville Police Department, the City of Wentzville, and the Wentzville Downtown Business Association.

Registration for the cruise is in the parking lot across from City Hall starting at 5 p.m. Participants can also register at Harris Auto & Tire several days prior to the cruise.
