The Wentzville School District Board of Education has approved the hiring of Edgar Nelson as Principal of Liberty High School for the 2015-2016 school year.
Mr. Nelson currently serves as an assistant principal at Holt High School. He is a native of Florissant and a graduate of McCluer North High School. He holds a B.A. in Communications, Certification in Speech/Theatre Education, and a Masters in Educational Administration, all from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He is currently working towards the completion of an Educational Doctorate from Maryville University. He taught special education at Francis Howell Union High and Hardin Middle School in St. Charles before being named an Assistant Principal at Fort Zumwalt North High School, and prior to taking the job at Holt last year.
Nelson is also a Veteran of the United States Army where he served for ten years both on active duty and in the reserves. He is a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve the students, parents, and staff of Liberty High School,” said Nelson. “Liberty already in just two years has an excellent reputation in the Wentzville community. I am looking forward to doing my part in continuing to establish traditions that provide an opportunity for students to achieve their full potential.”
Mr. Nelson is married with four children and his wife Patty is a special education teacher at Timberland High School.
