Motorists planning on traveling on eastbound I-70 near Foristell this weekend need to be aware of some road construction that will cause delays.
MoDOT will close the right lane on eastbound I-70 east of Foristell (mile marker 205 to 206) starting on Friday, May 6 at 9 p.m. The lane closure is necessary so crews can replace a section of pavement. All lanes will be open by Monday, May 9 at 5 a.m.
Drivers should use both lanes leading up to the closure and then alternate merging in a zipper-like fashion into the open lane. Research shows that using both lanes and merging like a zipper can reduce congestion by as much as 40 percent. This is commonly referred to as a zipper merge.
