Construction of the Cottages of Lake St. Louis began last week with a groundbreaking ceremony at the 5.2-acre site that will soon be the home of a state-of-the-art skilled nursing and long-term care facility–the first of its kind in Missouri.
The complex at 2885 Technology Drive will be built to “look like a little neighborhood,” said Al Beamer, CEO of Focused Senior Communities. Each of the six homes in the community will feature a dining room, family room with fireplace, den, spa, and an open kitchen surrounded by 10 private bedrooms with private bathrooms. The Cottages community also has walking paths, gardens, and patio areas.
The facility is part of the Green House Project, a new vision in elder care that creates a more homelike environment, along with high quality health care for those needing rehabilitation or skilled long-term care. Residents determine their own daily schedules and plan their own activities.
“Our dedicated staffing means that the caregivers are always the same people. They get to know an elder’s likes and dislikes and will immediately recognize when a case of sniffles is normal or a more serious issue,” Beamer said.
The grand opening of the Cottages at Lake St. Louis is projected for mid-January 2017.
