Charges filed after knife assault, SWAT standoff in Wentzville

According to the Wentzville Police Department, charges have been filed in a domestic assault incident and a police standoff that lasted into the early morning hours of October 5.

Christopher M. Cook, 29, has been charged with first degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest.

Police were called to the 1800 block of Hackmann Hollow Drive for a domestic assault between a mother and son at 6:19 p.m. Friday evening. The mother was able to seek safety after suffering a minor injury.

Cook approached officers and threw a knife towards them, and one officer fired several shots. Cook retreated into the residence and the St. Charles County SWAT team was called in. The suspect was taken into custody without injury at 2:15 a.m.

“No other citizens or officers were injured in this incident,” police reported.

Cook is being held on a $25,000 bond, 10 percent not authorized.
