I am excited to be a part of the future of the Wentzville School District, especially now, during this time of growth and change. My husband, Dr. Shane Bates, and I have lived in the Wentzville School District more than 12 years. We have three children Brady, 8; Brooke, 7; and Cooper, 5; who attend Discovery Ridge Elementary.

I currently serve as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at Discovery Ridge Elementary. For the previous two years, I served as their Treasurer. I have been a substitute teacher in Wentzville, both within the classroom and for Chautauqua. I have also donated my time as a room parent and classroom volunteer.

I am actively working towards my Actuary Certification through coursework at Maryville University. In addition, I also have valued experience in the private sector with various organizations. After college, I spent time working in Washington, D.C., for The Corporate Executive Board, a corporate benchmarking firm and Forbes 100 Company. Since then, I have¬†been responsible for accounts receivable management for a Fogelman Management Group community, contract administration for a local construction firm (building multi-million dollar projects), and I have been the business manager for our family business at which time we were also actively involved in the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce. I hold a degree from William Woods University in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor Mathematics.

While I have been fortunate enough to stay home with my children the past few years, my personality lends itself to staying actively involved. I participated in Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) and served as part of its leadership team for three years. I regularly serve within my local church as part of the Kids Ministry, and have, in the past, served on the board of my subdivision’s Home Owner’s Association.

It is important to me that my participation in any endeavor makes a positive impact. As a School Board member, I would strive to serve and support the District and have a positive effect on the overall quality of education for all students. Establishing relationships within the schools, as well as within the community is vital to ensure all voices are heard concerning the issues that affect us all. In addition, I would support the vision of the School Board and use our resources in a fiscally responsible manner as vital decisions are made that will affect the future of our community.

As a parent, volunteer, and community member, I am passionate about our children, our teachers, and our schools, It is my hope as School Board member to demonstrate my passion by investing my time and skillset to guide the District forward. I believe my background, expertise and forward thinking will bring out-of-the box ideas and innovative solutions to the Wentzville School District.
